Ikeda Free Full Playthrough

Released in 1999 Ikeda is a free to play platformer on steam. As a passion project for the most part made by one man there is a supporters option so you can “buy the developer a coffee”. It's £3.99 and you get an in game supporters badge and a warm fuzzy feeling.

As a scrap hunter in the not too distant future your aim is to avoid obstacles and enemies to recover a decommissioned tank for your client. The scrap hunter is a nimble character. Able to slide down and jump off walls in order to reach the next platform. They can only take one hit though and deaths are recorded.

This brings me to my next point, re playability. Ikeda offers a few options to go back and play the game after completion. You can go back to collect all the scrap, try to beat your previous best time and get through without dying.

Ikeda is a challenging game by design. Death is inevitable during the first few playthroughs. Tight gaps between traps, rapid firing lasers and unpredictable robots have made me curse in frustration but is all the more satisfying once I get past a stage.
