Janosik Free Full Playthrough
Released in 2020 Janosik is a Metroidvania style platformer. The movement and combat are fast paced with a decent variety of enemies. Level design is probably the most impressive feature. The creator was able to create the impression of sprawling dungeons and greenery whilst also making the hub locations accessible via hidden tunnels and ladders. The style is reminiscent of retro indie title like Rouge Legacy and Shovel Knight so it is in good company.
The only real issue I had with it is that I found myself struggling to find the last key or prisoner which meant a lot of time searching the game in order to progress. This was mitigated slightly through the use of upgradable especially the brief periods of invulnerably allowing me to bypass enemies completely.
Xbox controller support is welcome as not all titles with a price point of free have this. Janosik 2 has a planned release date for later this year.
